Volunteers assist the cardboard boaters, both in the water and on the ground and winners receive great prizes from a variety of businesses throughout the community.

This weekend long event in the past has kicked off on Friday with a fish fry and night tours.      Butterfly Release:  In 2019, the museum grounds hosted its first monarch butterfly release in the shadow of the Civil War monument. The campus setting is idyllic with mature trees, filtered sunlight and a flower garden with monarch habitat. Our inaugural release was preceded by music and began with an invocation. Each butterfly is released separately in remembrance of a life lost.  For this writer, the release was symbolic and emotional.
We have designated the 1st Sunday of August as the annual Butterfly Release Day, for 2023 the event will be August 6th. Butterflies are sold as a fundraising event.
To purchase a butterfly or for more information contact Margie Meehan 563-920-7704.

All the buildings are open and hosted throughout the day. You can purchase a wrist band on the grounds so that you may tour the museum buildings and view the collections.  Lenox Day is a fundraiser for the museum with proceeds used for restoration and maintenance.
