Various vendors set up under the beautiful tree canopy to sell vegetables, baked goods, maple syrup, potted herbs and hand crafted items. All vendors are local individuals who have a variety of goods to please everyone.
Enjoy the fresh air, sunshine and goodies this year on Thursdays beginning June 2, 2022 ending October 1, 2022 3:00 pm to 6:00pm.
For more information, or if you want to become a vendor, call Margie Meehan at 563-920-7704.
Butterfly Release: In 2019, the museum grounds hosted its first monarch butterfly release in the shadow of the Civil War monument. The campus setting is idyllic with mature trees, filtered sunlight and a flower garden with monarch habitat.
Our inaugural release was preceded by music and began with an invocation. Each butterfly is released separately in remembrance of a life lost. For this writer, the release was symbolic and emotional.
We have designated the 1st Sunday of August as the annual Butterfly Release day. For 2022 the event will be August beginning at 12 noon. Butterflies are sold as a fundraising event. To purchase a butterfly or for more information contact Margie Meehan 563-920-7704.
Lenox Day: The Delaware County Historical Society hosts the Lenox Day celebration the last Sunday of August beginning at 9:00 a.m. ending at 3:00 p.m. The activities are held on the museum’s historic Lenox College campus.
A lunch stand has been available on the grounds. Generally, snow cones, cotton candy and fresh apple fritters are also sold.
Activities throughout the day include handcrafted item vendors, direct sales vendors, silent auction and music by local musicians. For the kids, there are inflatable bounce houses, face painting, barrel wagon rides and old fashioned games.
A meat smoking competition was introduced at the last Lenox Day event. 2021 plans include an expanded version of the competition.
All the buildings are open and hosted throughout the day. You can purchase a wrist band on the grounds so that you may tour the museum buildings and view the collections. Lenox Day is a fundraiser for the museum with proceeds used for restoration and maintenance.
2022 Lenox Day is scheduled for August 27 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. For more information contact Craig Lange at (319) 480-6684 and follow Delaware County Historical Museum Facebook page for updates.
Radio Dinner Theater: In previous years, the Historical Society has hosted a Radio Dinner Theater in the fall. At this time, there has been no decision made regarding the Radio Dinner Theater for 2022.
