½ day

  • Arrive at 9:00am in Manchester and grab a cup of coffee and a pastry at Aunt Emmy’s. Take a stroll around downtown Manchester to all the locally owned stores and shops. There is something for everyone!
  • 10:00am Take a little walk down to Howard & Helen Shelly Memorial Park – Home of Manchester’s Whitewater Park, the largest in the state of Iowa. Enjoy the beautiful Maquoketa River and walk along the river walk.
  • 11:00am jump in your car for a short drive to the Manchester Fish Hatchery just East of Manchester. Since 1976 it has functioned as Iowa’s trout brood stock station where trout are spawned, incubated and hatched annually to produce over 600,000 fish for stocking in Iowa waters. You can even feed the fish!
  • 12:00am Head back to downtown Manchester for lunch at The Bread Basket. Make sure to leave room for their legendary white chocolate banana cream pie. See more restaurant options here
  • 1:00pmTake a short drive to Backbone State Park. Drive through Backbone and enjoy the beautiful sites and nature. Take time to get out and walk around using the 21 miles of hiking trails. If you are a fisherman, make sure to bring your fishing pole and take advantage of the trout streams. Bring your swimsuits to wade in the streams or enjoy the beautiful manmade lake.

Full Day Option 1

  • 9:00am Arrive in Manchester and grab a breakfast at Jude’s Café, Sunset Restaurant or Aunt Emmy’s. See more restaurant options here
  • 10:00am Enjoy the shops downtown Manchester
  • 11:00am jump in your car for a short drive to the Manchester Fish Hatchery just East of Manchester. You can even feed the fish!
  • 12:00am On your way back to Manchester, head over to Pin Oak Pub & Links for a delicious lunch and hopefully you will be able to enjoy their beautiful patio.
  • 1:00pm After lunch stay to play 18 holes of golf or head back to downtown to walk along the river walk to view Iowa’s Largest White Water Park or be adventurous and enjoy a nice ride down the Maquoketa River in a kayak, canoe or tube! Check out available rentals here
  • 3:00pm It’s time to relax and have a cold one at Franklin Street Brewing Company. Enjoy the beauty of the renovated historic Masonic building in downtown Manchester. Franklin Street Brewing Company has nine serving tanks, allowing patrons to experience a wide-variety of beer styles. The brewery is open Wed – Sunday.

Full Day Option 2

  • 9:00am Arrive in Manchester
  • Take a 20 minute drive to the state’s oldest and largest state park, Backbone State Park
  • 10:00am- Drive through Backbone and enjoy the beautiful sites and nature. Take time to get out and walk around using the 21 miles of hiking trails. If you are a fisher, make sure to bring your fishing pole and take advantage of the trout streams. Bring your swimsuits to wade in the streams or enjoy the beautiful manmade lake.
  • 12:00am Visit the CCC Museum located at the West entrance.
  • Before leaving Backbone, you must take a picture at the look outpoint of the Backbone near the East entrance.
  • 12:30am Enjoy lunch in downtown Edgewood
  • 1:00pm Book a tour at Kendrick’s Forest Products, Iowa’s largest sawmill. View up close the process from log to cabinets and furniture.
  • 3:00pm You must stop at the Edgewood Locker to sample the exquisite products. Ask for a tour or view through the window.
  • 3:30pm Venture your way back to Manchester and take a little walk down to Howard & Helen Shelly Memorial Park – Home of Manchester’s Whitewater Park, the largest in the state of Iowa. Enjoy the beautiful Maquoketa River and walk along the river walk.

  • 9:00am Arrive in Manchester for coffee and enjoy downtown Manchester. See more restaurant options here
  • 10:00am take a scenic drive on our scenic byway and enjoy the Amish stores along the way
  • 12:00am Arrive at Bulicek’s Landing for an amazing lunch
  • 1:00pm Take a short drive to Hopkinton and view the Delaware County Historical Society Campus. Call in advance for a private tour.
  • 3:00pm Be sure on your way out of Hopkinton to view more Amish Community and additional stores.
  • 3:30pm Head to Ryan and view the Veteran’s Memorial that features a real Vietnam era Cobra Gunship Helicopter. Take short walk to the Ryan Ball Park to view World’s Largest Umpire. It’s a perfect photo op!
  • 4:00pm Cooper’s Place will welcome you for a cold beverage or afternoon snack. Be sure to view all of the Ryan History and Memorabilia.

Ladies Day

  • 9:00am Enjoy Coffee and pastries at Aunt Emmy’s. See more restaurant options here
  • 10:00am Enjoy the locally owned shops and boutiques downtown Manchester be sure to save plenty of time for Wander Drug and Gifts and if you are a quilter, the The Quiltmaker’s Shoppe!
  • 11:00am make sure to venture to The Posy Place, Sarah’s Flowers and Gifts, and Sue’s Flowers and Garden stores just a short drive from downtown.
  • 12:00am Have lunch at the Bread Basket and make sure to save room for dessert!
  • 1:00-3:00pm take a short drive to the Amish Stores on the Delaware County Scenic Byway
  • 3:00-4:00pm Experience the history of the Delaware County Historical Society Museum. View the historical relics from as early as the Civil War. Call in advance for a private tour.

Men’s Day

  • 9:00am Enjoy a hearty breakfast and a cup of joe at Jude’s Café. See more restaurant options here
  • 10:00am Head over to Pin Oak Pub & Links for 18 holes of golf.
  • 12:00am Enjoy lunch and the outdoor patio at Pin Oak Pub & Links
  • 1:30pm Take a drive to Edgewood for a tour of Kendrick’s Forest Products, Iowa’s Largest Sawmill. Make sure to book a tour in advance!
  • 3:00pm A must stop is the Edgewood Locker to sample their products and grab some snacks!
  • 4:00pm Find a seat at the Franklin Street Brewing Company in Manchester. Ask for a tour and sample all their amazing brews. Make sure to bring in your finds from the Edgewood Locker since you can bring your own food in.

Family Day

  • 9:00am Fuel your family up at Sunset Family Restaurant for breakfast. See more restaurant options here
  • 10:00am Head to the Manchester Fish Hatchery and enjoy a tour or just feeding the fish. Take time to wonder around the area and walk across the drawstring bridge.
  • 11:00am Make your way to Bailey’s Ford Park and Nature Center. Take a hike, fish or enjoy the play equipment or sandy beach along the Maquoketa River. Make sure to walk through the Nature Center.
  • 12:00am If you didn’t pack a picnic don’t worry Olive that Deli has you covered with something for everyone! Dine in or carry out and sit at Howard & Helen Shelly Memorial Park overlooking the Maquoketa River and whitewater park.
  • 1:00pm Take a walk down to Iowa’s Largest White Water Park and burn off some energy along the river walk or if you are feeling adventurous take a kayak, canoe or tube down the river! Here are a list of rentals. If the waterpark isn’t the right fit, head to Legacy Skate Park.
  • 2:30pm It’s about time to cool off with some ice cream! At Widner Drug’s 1950’s Ice Cream Parlor, you will be sure to find something.
  • 3:00pm Let the kiddos rest in the car for a short drive to Backbone State Park. Take a drive through or stop and enjoy the beautiful scenery, burn some energy and take a hike or enjoy wading in the babbling trout streams or the beautiful beach of Backbone Lake.
  • 4:30pm Make sure to stop and take a picture at the scenic look out point to remember your amazing day!
